About

Lora Miller - Fine Art Artist

Initially influenced by her grandmother, an oil painter of Southern California and then living in West Germany as a military child, Chattanooga artist, Lora Miller describes herself as creatively scattered. Exposed to so much art and culture, yet uprooted so often, had lifelong effects. Her work seeks out simple and uncomplicated subjects; seeing color, light, movement and pattern dispersed in the familiar places of life.

Gardening draws on her creativity, representing growth and stability. She enjoys painting encounters from her camera or painting En plein air. She has lived in Chattanooga, Tennessee for her teen and adult life; so, most of her artwork depicts characteristics of the Southeastern United States.

She describes her work as impressionism that can turn towards abstract and even walk into collage and mixed media. Watercolor and acrylic mediums encompass most of her impressionist pieces. Mixed media allows her to pull from many more directions with expression and design.

Lora has exhibited and sold her work online, locally with galleries, shops and public markets in Chattanooga. She has held employment as a gallery artist liaison for eight years, exhibited and served on the board of the Civic Arts League for three years and currently serves at In-Town Gallery as “Display Chairperson”. Her work holds awards from First place to Honorable mention. She has taught art with children, teens and adults. Her focus is primarily on original work, and paints commissioned work upon her review and acceptance.
